160cm of the white stuff

It's official! We have had more snow over the last 4 weeks than all of the last 2 years combined - almost 160cm. The last storm produced the most snow (in a single storm) since 1971!

The temps have been a consistent -10C during the day, and twice as low at night. This weekend it is meant to reach a balmy 6C and rain. Now the locals are getting worried about this - sure the rain (and high temp) will melt some of the snow, but all that water combined with the slushy snow can instantly freeze if the temp. drops. That will bring the city to a standstill.

And it is not officially Winter yet - it starts in 3 days!

We are driving to New York city tomorrow - and last night our car conked out on the side of the road - it took 4 hours before help arrived (CAA), and it took a while to get it going again. So it has been at the mechanics all day today - it took them 4 hours to find the problem - it was something within the starter motor - but it wasn't the starter motor itself. Luckily it is under warranty, and luckily it didn''t break down in the snow somewhere on the way to New York - we might have freeze to death!
